Certifications and Inspection Reports
To help you meet your specific project requirements, we offer a range of quality documents, including detailed inspection reports and industry-standard certifications that can be optionally requested with every order. These documents ensure that your parts are manufactured according to your specifications, meet international quality standards, and adhere to regulatory compliance.
Inspection Reports
Xometry offers a variety of inspection reports to ensure your parts meet precise dimensional and quality standards. Our reports, based on ISO 2859-1 sampling guidelines, ensure that key specifications are thoroughly verified and documented.
This inspection report confirms that critical dimensions have been inspected and recorded against allowed dimensional accuracy and tolerances using CMM, callipers and/or hand tools. The Quality Control team conducts meticulous inspections adhering to our Statistical Sampling Plan based on ISO 2859-1 with zero rejects, ensuring a robust and reliable quality assessment process.
- Note: The report documents up to 20 inspection samples. “Balloon” technical drawings are required; if unavailable, we will measure key dimensions at our discretion.
- Standard price: 75€
- Lead time: + 1 business day
A CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Dimensional Inspection Report is a detailed quality document where the critical dimensions of a small batch from the full order are inspected and recorded against allowed tolerances. This report, generated using a highly precise CMM, provides comprehensive information on dimensional accuracy, form, orientation, and position of features. Our advanced measurement technologies ensure precision and accuracy in evaluating your components. Batch sizes conform to ISO 2859 General Level II standards, guaranteeing consistency and adherence to quality norms.
- Note: The report documents up to 20 inspection samples
- Standard price: 125€
- Lead time: + 3 business days
First Article Inspections (FAIs) ensure parts meet specifications before mass production. Required for the initial production run of a new product, FAI involves a thorough examination and measurement of a representative sample from the first batch. This process verifies that the product meets design specifications, engineering drawings, and contractual obligations. By default, the FAI documentation includes the following: Full measurement report, material type confirmation (for metals), and material data sheet (for plastics).
If the customer specifies, the scope of the FAI documentation may also include the following: Surface finish or coating certificate, heat treatment and hardness confirmation, production flowchart, tooling list, control plan, and other items specified by the customer.
- Note: You will receive 2 sample parts with a FAI report. “Balloon” technical drawings required. Please specify if you require any additional FAIR documents beyond the default scope.

Material Certifications
Our material certificates provide detailed documentation on the properties and compliance of the materials used in your parts. These certificates, issued according to EN 10204 standards, offer varying levels of inspection and testing depending on your project’s requirements.
This certificate is a manufacturer’s declaration that the materials delivered comply with the order specifications, without providing any test results. It includes basic information such as the manufacturer’s name, product details, and confirmation of compliance. Typically used for materials where detailed test data is not required, such as in general construction applications.

- Standard price: 10€ per order
- Issued by: Xometry Europe
This certificate is a manufacturer’s declaration that the delivered materials comply with the order specifications and passed all relevant internal tests successfully. It is typically used when it’s necessary to confirm that the products meet the specified requirements, such as material composition or mechanical properties, based on internal testing conducted in accordance with EN 10204.

- Standard price: 20€ per order
- Issued by: Xometry Europe
A Raw Material Certificate (Metals) certificate is provided by the raw material supplier, confirming that the materials meet the specified standards. It includes detailed information on mechanical properties and chemical composition, such as tensile strength, yield strength, hardness, and chemical analysis. The Inspection Material Certificate 3.1 according to EN 10204 or its Country-Specific Equivalent (such as a Product Quality Certificate according to GB/T standards) is issued by the manufacturer, with inspection results verified by an independent assessor.

- Standard price: 20€ per position
- Issued by: Material producer
A raw material certificate for plastics provides detailed documentation from the raw material supplier, confirming that the plastic materials meet the specified order requirements. It includes essential information on material properties such as chemical composition, density, tensile strength, elongation, and thermal properties. The certificate is issued by the manufacturer, with testing results reviewed by an independent assessor. This certification is typically used in industries like automotive, consumer goods, and manufacturing, where material performance and compliance with standards are critical for quality assurance.

- Standard price: 15€ per position
- Issued by: Material producer
This certificate documents the heat treatment processes applied to materials during manufacturing, ensuring they meet the required specifications and industry standards. The certificate includes details on the specific heat treatment methods used (e.g., annealing, quenching, tempering), temperature ranges, and cooling rates, as well as any resulting changes in material properties like tensile strength, hardness, and microstructure. The certification is issued by the manufacturer and validated by an independent assessor.

- Standard price: Free of charge
- Issued by: Xometry Europe, based on material certificates of the parts
The Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) certificate ensures that the materials and packaging used in your order comply with the European REACH regulations. It guarantees that no more than 0.1% of hazardous substances are present in any of the materials, ensuring safer, compliant products for your business and end users.

FAQ
A “balloon” technical drawing is a drawing with numbered annotations for each critical dimension. It helps our inspection team clearly identify the key features that need to be measured. If you don’t have one, we can inspect key dimensions at our discretion, but this may limit the thoroughness of the inspection.
A Standard Measurement Report covers critical dimensions checked with CMM, calipers, and/or hand tools and follows ISO 2859-1 standards. It’s ideal for ensuring general dimensional accuracy. A CMM Inspection Report uses highly precise Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) technology to provide detailed measurements and is suited for parts requiring extreme precision.
A Type 2.1 certificate is a simple declaration of compliance by the manufacturer, stating that the materials meet the order specifications without including any test results. It’s typically used when detailed verification is not required.
A Type 2.2 certificate, on the other hand, includes results from non-specific inspections and testing performed during production. This certificate provides more detailed evidence that the materials comply with the required properties, such as chemical composition or mechanical performance.
Both certificates provide assurance, but 2.2 offers more specific quality data compared to 2.1.
You can leave a note in your quote request specifying any additional certifications or inspection reports you need.
By default, the inspection reports cover up to 20 samples. However, if your project requires a higher sample size for critical inspections, please mention it in your quote request, and we can adjust the report accordingly at an additional cost.
